Intellectual rights in the Republic of Slovenia

Intellectual property rights in the Republic of Slovenia are managed by the Law on copyright and related rights.

This law regulates:

  1. The right of authors on their literate, scientific and art work (copyright),
  2. Rights of performers, phonogram producers, film producers, radio or television (RTV) organizations, publishers and databases managers (related rights),
  3. Individual or collective management and enforcement of copyright and related rights.

More details about the law can be found at Law on copyright and related rights.

Register of protected work

The right holder may protect the original work or the examples of his/hers work by saving the original in the register of protected work. It can do so in order to safeguard the evidence or for other reasons. The register is authorized by the Slovenian Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) and led by the Copyright Agency of Slovenia. The establishment and protection of rights is by no means based only on the registration.
